| In Attendance: Roz Karlan, Jayne
Carr, Jane Gursky, Anne Marie Fitzsimmons and
Charlie Wilder.
The final plans for the chalk art contest and
the art show to be held in conjunction with
the May 20th AntiqueFest of the Freehold Center
Partnership were discussed.
Art Show –
Anne Marie has made several attempts to get
in contact with Susan Winters. Jayne has received
a voice mail message from Susan that stated
that she would be thrilled to participate and
had several groups to draw from. Jayne and Anne
Marie will continue to reach out to Susan and
the group can anticipate that we will have a
full complement for the show. Jane will order
50’ of snow fence to be placed in front of the
Hall of Records.
Chalk Art –
Allen Consulting will produce the flyers to
be distributed prior to the event. We will be
closing off the Hall of Records Annex side of
the West Main Street Parking lot behind Liberty
Triumphant at 7 a.m. Vehicles will be able to
enter, exit and park on the Goodfella’s side
of the parking lot. Jane Gursky will contact
Lynn Reich to see if she would be a judge and
to ask if she will find out why the school has
been unresponsive. (Lynn is an art teacher at
the school)
Everyone will continue to solicit adult volunteers
and qualified judges.
The prizes for each of the 3 categories will
be:
1st prize, $25.00 gift certificate to Cornerstone
Café
2nd prize, $15.00 gift certificate to Quizno’s
3rd prize, $10.00 gift certificate to Rita’s
Ice
Jayne will solicit each of these businesses
to see if they will donate the prizes. If unsuccessful
the Partnership will pay for them out of the
Marketing budget.
Drawing will take place between 11 a.m. to
2 p.m.
Judging will be between 2 and 3 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded at 3 p.m. – Winners
need not be present. (A sign up sheet with an
adult contact and phone number will be asked
for. If not provided and the participant leaves
the prize would be forfeited.)
With no further business the meeting adjourned
at 9:30 a.m.
JANUARY 16, 2007
In Attendance: Anne Denise, Roz and Jayne
Anne Denise reported to the committee that
the owner of Around the Corner no longer wants
to host an art show in the downtown. He will
be organizing his art show at his Freehold Township
facility. Anne Denise is still very much interested
in working independent of the store to organize
this part of our event.
Jayne will wait a couple of days just to make
sure Meryl does not change his mind on this
decision. If he doe not then Jayne will work
to arrange a meeting with the art director at
Freehold Borough High School, Mr. Fiorelli.
We will also be contacting Avram Shapiro from
the Freehold Arts Society and Susan Winter from
the Senior Center’s art group.
Tuesday and Thursday afternoons are the best
times for arranging the meeting.
We will also be looking for additional hands
to help in the production the day of the chalk
art contest.
Jayne will request that someone from Allen
attend a few of these meetings to work on coordination
of this event. The Spring AntiqueFest is scheduled
for May 20th and the Fall Antique/San Genera
Fest will be held on September the 16th.
The next meeting of this committee is February
16, 2007
JUNE 15, 2006
In Attendance Anne Marie, Roz, Kortez, Jayne,
Meryl, Bill, Charlie and Rene
Roz called the meeting to order. Roz is looking
to reorganize and expand the committee. The
committee was instructed to take a name or names
from the list of identified arts organizations
and contact them for their interest in attending
and participating on this committee.
Jayne distributed to the committee the form
calling for participation in entertainment at
the East Main Street gazebo. The committee will
distribute the flyer to those interested.
Roz reported that participation at the chalk
art event was very good for the first time out.
In the future we will need to take more information
on the sign up sheets including addresses and
phone numbers. We will also have to recruit
more volunteer help. The committee felt a need
for better communications with the Police Department
(shutting down the lot earlier, etc.) The committee
felt that perhaps we could scale down on the
size and cost of the prizes.
The certificates should be given to the participants
when they sign up instead of after the event.
Meryl from Around the Corner Art Store stressed
the importance of saying “art show” on the banner.
Jayne assured him that she would have that for
next year. Meryl will also develop a schematic
drawing of where the fence should be placed
and he would be willing to meet with Public
Works before the event.
The rain date should not fall on Memorial Day.
With no further business the meeting adjourned
at 9:30 a.m.
The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday,
July 20, 8:30 a.m. @ the Partnership Office.
SEPTEMBER 22 , 2005
In Attendance: Jayne Carr, Rene McCallum, Roz
Karlan, Ann Marie Fitzsimmons, Michael Gutman,
and Sylvia Allen
The chalk art contest for the spring was discussed
in reference to details. The age categories
will be:
Preschool – not judged
5 to 8
9 – 12
13 – 18
Rene will be designing the certificates for
the winners.
There will be a pre-event sign up/in. Everything
will be color coordinated by age. Winners must
be present to win. There will be a time limit
set for participants.
The committee will be looking to CentraState
to adopt the project. We will be asking them
to include the adult picture for auction at
their annual Ball. The picture will be created
on site at the May event on a blackboard. The
outline will be sketched, then chalked by the
participants and then sprayed to seal it. The
picture will be on display at Gallery 31 until
the auction on November 12, 2006.
Sylvia will be asking Binley and Smith (chalk
manufacturers) if they would be a sponsor.
There will be a 2-week pre-registration at
Gallery 31 and Around the Corner Around the
Corner Arts Center on Saturdays and Sundays
from 12 to 5. Roz will look into the theater
coordinating with their Hamlet for Kid’s production.

The committee recommends engaging both the
local high schools and the grade schools.
A raffle for a piece of art was discussed.
The committee will look toward Brookdale and
Monmouth College for a professional curator.

mural that day that would then be auctioned
off.

this piece and have everyone complete the picture.

adults.
Ribbons will be awarded in different categories.
